We have been fortunate as a foundation to be able to recently partner with Bark to Basics Canine Obedience Center out of Buckeye, Arizona!

Once a submitted application has been approved through the Santo Foundaton, Bark to Basics Canine Obedience Center works with the client throughout the training of the service dog. The client will gain the knowledge needed to become a service dog handler. They will learn many things including dog husbandry, positive reinforcement, socialization, the phases of service dog training including obedience training, public access, and scent detection, ADA law, traveling with a service dog, and so much more. The client will be in training right along with their service dog in training (SDiT). Families will be armed with the knowledge and skills needed to reinforce the skills and tasks the service dog has been trained on, as well as on how to build an incredible relationship with their new working companion.

Clients will have the opportunity to see pictures and video of their SDiT throughout the training process, to read about what their dog is currently learning, to ask questions throughout the process, and even to visit their SDiT if they desire. Once their service dog is ready to take his place by his handler’s side, the client will be provided with hands on in person training.
